A Season in Vermont

Von Elena Marsh1 Min. Lesezeit

The cabin I rented has one working burner and a view of a hillside that is, for about ten days in October, genuinely the color people describe in brochures. Nobody I mention this town to has heard of it, which is why I came.

The towns that never make a list are usually the ones actually living their own lives.

The general store owner, Hal, has run the register for thirty-one years and knows the names of everyone’s dog. There is nothing here to photograph for anyone but myself, and that turns out to be the appeal.

I don’t know that I’d recommend it, exactly. I know I’ll come back next October, on purpose, for exactly ten days.
